Kenny Fogle

Chair, Nelson County Democratic Party

Kenny Fogle has served as Chair of the Nelson County Democratic Party since December 2018, and has been a member of the county party's executive committee for over 30 years. His deep roots in Nelson County and decades of organizing experience make him one of the most respected Democratic leaders in the region.

A proud member of IBEW Local 369 (the electricians' union in Louisville), Kenny brings a working-family perspective to everything he does. He also serves as deputy political director for the Kentucky Democratic Party, working to rebuild the party across the state.

Kenny leads the annual "Rally at The Burg" tri-county Democratic event, now in its fourth year, which brings together Democrats from Nelson and surrounding counties. He also substitutes as a radio co-host on WBRT's "Bradford & Brooks" show, where he's interviewed local candidates and discussed party issues.

He is the author of "The Day Before Graduation," available on Amazon.

"If we revive the Democratic Party, it won't be from the national level. It won't be from the state level. It'll be county by county by county."

Buffy Greenwell

Vice Chair, Nelson County Democratic Party

Buffy Greenwell serves as Vice Chair of the Nelson County Democratic Party. In this role, she steps in to preside over party meetings whenever Chair Kenny Fogle is unavailable, ensuring the party's business continues smoothly and without interruption.

Buffy is a dedicated community member and committed Democrat who has been confirmed as Vice Chair through the Kentucky Standard's community notes, which noted her presiding over the September 2025 Democratic Party meeting at the Nelson County Public Library.

As Vice Chair, Buffy plays a vital role in organizing party activities, supporting candidates, and keeping the Nelson County Democratic Party running strong.

Linda Spalding

Secretary, Nelson County Democratic Party

Linda Spalding serves as Secretary of the Nelson County Democratic Party, responsible for maintaining the official records, meeting minutes, and correspondence of the party. Her role is essential to keeping the party organized, transparent, and accountable to its members.

Linda is an active and engaged member of the Nelson County Democratic community, with records showing her involvement in party activities including political donations during the 2026 primary election cycle.

As Secretary, Linda ensures that the party's decisions are properly documented and that members have access to the information they need to participate fully in the democratic process.

Therese Johnson

Treasurer, Nelson County Democratic Party

Therese Johnson serves as Treasurer of the Nelson County Democratic Party, bringing decades of financial management expertise to the role. She oversees the party's finances with the same care and precision she brings to her community service.

Therese also serves as Board Treasurer of CASA of the Lincoln Trail (Court Appointed Special Advocates), a nonprofit organization that advocates for abused and neglected children in Nelson, Washington, and Marion Counties. Her connection to CASA began over 25 years ago, demonstrating her deep, long-standing commitment to the most vulnerable members of the community.

With her financial acumen and her dedication to child advocacy, Therese brings both expertise and heart to the Nelson County Democratic Party. Her dual role in party finance and child welfare reflects the Democratic values of compassion, responsibility, and community care.

Martha Nest

President, Nelson County Democratic Women's Club

Martha Nest is the President of the Nelson County Democratic Women's Club, a role in which she leads and organizes Democratic women across the county. She has emceed the Democratic Women's Club candidate dinner and is an active voice in the local party.

Martha is a transplant from Maine, bringing with her what friends describe as a "wonderful Maine accent" and a passion for Democratic values that translates across state lines. Her leadership of the Women's Club helps ensure that women's voices are front and center in Nelson County politics.

The Nelson County Democratic Women's Club plays an important role in supporting candidates, organizing events, and engaging women in the political process — all under Martha's dedicated leadership.
